The objective of the thesis is to examine the performance of logistic core zones in the Netherlands and Belgium from the standpoint of the Flemish-Dutch port Delta. The performance of logistic core zones involves, more specifically, the warehousing and storage sector. The objective of the thesis is achieved by critically evaluating different theoretical approaches in order to create performance indicators. The performance is measured by benchmarking the warehousing and storage sector of the Netherlands and Belgium in a European perspective. The enhancement of the relevant performance indicators could attract and keep businesses active in the considered logistic core zones.
