This thesis examines the relationship between the degree of compliance of EU Member States and several variables such as the degree of consensus of Member States on Council meetings, the degree of approval of the European Union by Member State citizens and the time spent as an EU member. Taken in consideration as a main research object is Directive 2000/43/EC implementing the principle of equal treatment between persons irrespective of racial or ethnic origin. The research outcome reveals that the relationship between the variables is not significant and hardly existing. Given the nature of the choice of EU law and the fact that the research scope is narrowed down only to EU-15 Member States, this thesis suggests that the outcome cannot be applied to other similar situations, thus any future elaboration in the same field should take in consideration the type of research objects and EU laws.
