This research explores the role and impact of artistic production in times of crisis in Greece, taking as a case study the contemporary visual arts scene in Athens. Specifically, it examines individual’s motivations to engage with artistic production, and namely those of artists, curators, collectors or artistic managers, investigating how these motivations force those individuals to find ways to realize their art, especially in times of such severe financial crisis.
