In order to gain more insight into the fragmented lighting industry and in what ways its market leading firms can maintain competitiveness and market share amid recent LED developments, we conducted a research using data containing 364 individual LED light bulb observations from 77 firms over a period of two year from three di↵erent regions. We have found that, against expectations, price and quality have little significant influence on the global LED market share of a firm. Instead, belonging to the premium brand category of market pioneers in the industry increases market share. Consumers trust the quality and specifications of the product and take other factor less into account when making the buying decision.
