This paper compared differences between Dutch and Chinese participants and investigated how social disapproval cue influences in the context of a standard public goods game. The experiment results shows that without exposure to the social disapproval cue, there is no significant difference in the contribution level between the Dutch and the Chinese participants. After introducing the social disapproval cue, the reaction is different between the Dutch and Chinese participants. For the Dutch subjects, it decreases the investment amount and encourages free-riding behavior, however, the converse is true for the Chinese subjects. Acknowledgement
