The study discusses the determinants of longevity of smart city ecosystems and projects. Common dimensions are defined by reviewing literature and constructing interviews with smart city stakeholders in the public and private sector involved in initiatives and projects in Europe. The factors and mutual relationships are assembled in a conceptual model aligning technology, governance and strategic factors. The study offers strategic guidance and recommendations for stakeholders to improve collaboration and create and continue smart city ecosystems and projects.
