This Master Thesis explores the formerly unknown population of the increasingly popular amateur art of ‘fan fiction’ on the Internet. The thesis explicates the phenomenon of fan fiction, the role of the Internet and gives the first account of its consumers, their social characteristics and their cultural consumerism.
