Sports has become an important part of life for most individuals. Looking at the sports industry, the amount of expenditure that occurs is staggering. There is also significant differences between continents and regions when it comes to the management of sports leagues. Recent trends regarding the construction of facilities has made the discussion on sports franchises rather heated. The following paper looks into the economic mechanisms that effect the interplay between sports franchises and cities by using examples and analysing the trends.
