Why do people vote on political parties that make it clear that they do not have an intention to be in government? This research expands the model by Skaperdas & Grofman (1995) to look at the conditions in an established political landscape that give room for a populist party to enter in. Also the behaviour of the populist party and the established parties is analysed.
