In recent years, several Dutch regions faced population shrinkage. Every year, the population decreases by a small amount. In absolute terms, population decline in a region is caused by death surplus or migration surplus. In this study, 20 different COROP regions are researched to explain and analyse population shrinkage. The main finding of this study is that education supply and diversity of employment both have a significant effect on population growth.
