This paper clarifies the role and importance of intuition within the strategic decision making process of CEO’s, concerning the subject of internationalization. Based on theoretical research on the theories of intuition, strategic decision making, strategic choice and internationalization a framework for intuitive CEO internationalization strategic decision making is proposed and tested. The results of the research on the one hand give insights in how CEO’s can optimize their strategic decision making process and on the other hand form the bases for a new field of research within the theory of strategic decision making.
