I investigate the impact of wage dispersion on performance in the NBA. I find that there is an inverse U-shaped relationship between wage dispersion and performance. When using wage dispersion to forecast game results, it does not add a significant improvement in performance. Applying these forecasts to several betting strategies I am able to generate small negative returns. However, these returns are an improvement over a naive strategy.
