This thesis examines the origins and implications of the adoption of quantitative methodology in economics. I argue, that in modern economic thought quantitative analysis, due to its epistemic allure, is often overused. Such conduct is problematic as it may lead to enshrouding bias, oversimplifying complex phenomena and the lack of accountability in economic sciences. The topic is scientifically relevant as it dissects current methodological practices within economics. Philosophical exploration of the social and scientific impact of quantification is crucial for understanding economics as a science and critically reflecting upon it.
