The use of perceived queer nonacceptance in Palestine in anti-Palestinian discourse: a critical discourse analysis.

This thesis analyzes the way in which queer nonacceptance in Palestine is used in anti-Palestinian discourse through Digital Discourse Analysis on the platform X. It analyzes the underlying Orientalist and homonationalist argumentation that drives this discourse. The thesis reveals that the debate around LGBTQ+ nonacceptance in Palestine is used as a proxy to debate Palestinian mortality, discussing the deservingness of the Palestinian people to exist based on their adherence to Western modernity. Furthermore, it examines the way homonationalist and Orientalism are used in the data as a tool to maintain Western hegemony through its representation of Palestine as violent, dangerous, homophobic and, ultimately, undeserving. These tools are used to perpetuate settler-colonial violence and genocide in Palestine.
