Tournaments are a reward system commonly used when individual output is difficult to measure. Like all reward systems, a ournament has some advantages and disadvantages. This paper discusses the effects of implementing a tournament reward system, by using results from previous experiments. By combining these results with information from a real world firm, this paper seeks to find possible improvements for using tournament based reward systems.
