Some of the major challenges facing many countries, particularly those commonly referred to as 'developing', or 'less developed' revolve around their human resources - significant imbalances in the demand for and the supply of labour. Additionally, these countries are usually characterized by, inter alia, serious employment problems, low and declining per capita lncome, and low standards of living. Differing policies and strategies have been developed and pursued with mixed results. Some countries have demonstrated some evidence of economic improvements, experiencing growth as measured by the traditional indicators ego GDP, GNP, BOP, etc.
